G-ISLP

G-ISLP is the newest aircraft to join the Blue Islands fleet, and will become the airline’s first ATR 72-600 once delivered by lessor Jetstream Aviation Capital. Similar to sister ships G-PBOT and G-PEMB, the aircraft previously operated in South America. It was withdrawn from use in March 2021, after Avianca, the airline that flew it, decided to simplify its operations during its bankruptcy proceedings in the United States and phased out its entire ATR turboprop fleet.

Following its withdrawal from use, the aircraft was stored in Saint-Brieuc for two and a half years before being reactivated in 2024. It was then ferried to Orebro, and later to Coeur d’Alene in Idaho for maintenance. In March 2025, it was flown to Exeter for repainting in the Blue Islands livery and additional maintenance, it remained stored there until the 10th June 2025.

It was deregistered N167JL on the 14th May 2025 and registered with the UK CAA on the 15th May as G-ISLP. It’s delivery was reportedly delayed due to extensive maintenance being required in Exeter (poor work by US MRO), replacement passenger door springs being required (reportedly damaged a/c) and a new nose wheel / tug connector being required due to corrosion. It had its Certificate of Airworthiness granted on the 5th June.

It was delivered from Exeter to Jersey on the 12th June as BCI007.
